Why hire a professional photographer?

Hello! I’m Jennifer Sitter, owner of SitHappy Productions in the San Jose Bay Area, and I’ve been a professional family photographer and videographer for 15 years.

One of the most frequent questions I’ve heard lately is ‘why hire a professional photographer when everyone has a camera on their phone?’ I’ll tell you -- there are many reasons, and it’s not just about getting great photos.

 

Be IN the photos: First of all, Moms you need to be IN the photos too!! As a mom myself, I know what’s it like -- we are often the photographer, taking pictures of our kids but we hardly ever get to have beautiful photos of ourselves. But it’s so important for your children to have portraits of them with their mother. Children LOVE these photos -- they mean so much!  In fact, at a recent session, my client’s sweet little girl picked the 1 image of her mom from a kid only session for her wall. That really says something!

And, of course, it’s important for you to have gorgeous portraits of yourself and your partner too. Make sure you get in the photos, Moms! 

I know a lot of us don’t like to be in front of the camera, I know I’m more comfortable behind the camera, but it’s my job as the professional to make sure you look good in the photos! I know how to pose you and light you for the most flattering looks! 

Let me tell you something, even professional photographers hire a pro to take their photo - because it beats out a tripod and remote trigger in so many ways. 

 

It’s more than just photos: As I mentioned, a professional photo session with me is more than just photos. It’s about the experience of being engaged as a family. It’s the energy I bring to the session so that your family is at ease and feels comfortable -- which comes through in the photos. It’s having a smooth session flow to avoid awkward family photos. It’s years of knowledge with posing so that you have natural, flattering photos. I love kids and I know a lot of tricks to help get amazing photos! And as I mentioned, I have a lot of experience and expertise in this line of work. I even teach lighting classes to other professionals!

Get help with session planning: I offer my clients help with planning their session, including choosing the right location, timing, and getting the best lighting to choosing the right clothing so that you have the most beautiful, flattering photos possible. I also have a complete wardrobe with outfits and props for my clients.

 

Photo editing: Taking photos is a very important part of the photo session, but we are not done with the photos once we take them! Editing the images is VERY important to make sure we have proper exposure with properly balanced colors and give them a polished look. 

 

Choosing the best images: Once that step is completed, I give my clients guidance and help with picking the very best images based on what they want to do with them.

 

Showcasing your images: Lastly, I want to help you make sure that you’re showcasing the best images from our session in the best way for you to enjoy on a daily basis -- because that’s why have photo sessions, for you to enjoy your photos and not just sitting on your hard drive with digital files.
